As Stores Manager, I’m primarily responsible for

• Ordering and pricing for cleaning equipment parts and spares
• Stock control and management of the stores
• Locating and ordering non-stock and special parts as required
• Despatching parts to customers
• Part of the trade counter team handling orders, collections from Atherstone

Experience and specialist areas

I started working with B&G when I was still at school, doing work experience and holiday work in the office and generally helping out. I started working full time when I left school in 1998 and at that time, my father Alan was the Stores Manager, so you could say it’s in the blood!

I’ve done a variety of jobs in my career at B&G, from office junior to reception manager, as well as working in the stores, so I understand how the business works and what our customers need from us. When dad retired in January 2019, I was offered the opportunity to take over as Stores Manager, and I love it! With thousands of parts in store at any time, careful stock control is essential to make sure that we can carry out repairs and maintenance on schedule as well as supplying our customers with the cleaning equipment parts and accessories they order.

Things I’m proud of

I’m proud to be continuing the family tradition of stores management and utilising systems which have been tried and tested over many years. I know what we have in store, where to locate it and when we need to reorder it. When non-stock parts are required, you can rely on me to track them down and order them in. We have a network of suppliers to choose from and I make sure we source our cleaning equipment parts well, so that we can supply to customers at competitive prices.

I’ve developed close relationships with many customers over the years and also work closely with other B&G managers to make sure that the service team have the parts they need when they need them, so we can be as efficient as possible. I also co-ordinate the supply of parts to our depots at Marchington and Dudley.

My job can be very demanding at times, particularly when large orders come in or we’re doing a stock take. A good day for me is one where I’ve supplied the parts people need, solved problems for customers and have ended the day with everything organised and in its place!
