Cleaning equipment for painted floors
We sell our cleaning equipment to a variety of businesses and industries. So it shouldn’t have been a big surprise (which it was) to receive a call from the Queen’s Helicopter Flight for help with a cleaning problem. The issue was a painted floor in the hangar housing the helicopters that required cleaning and they needed advice about the best way to go about it. A site visit was arranged and after discussing the best solution we quoted some options for consideration.
It was decided that the best option would be a BGVF 28T walk-behind scrubber dryer, which they asked us demonstrate to make sure it was the right machine for their needs. The demonstration was successful and the machine would be purchased subject to approval from Buckingham Palace. As might be imagined this took a little time, as it would with any large business, but eventually the machine was ordered together with a service contact and an agreement to provide training in the use of the scrubber dryer.
When we delivered the machine and carried out the training, the royal helicopters were in the hangar. Our sales manager was allowed to look around them, under escort of course, but sadly he wasn’t permitted to sit in one or take a photograph for security reasons. Cleanliness, which is important to all businesses, is particularly significant to the Queen’s Flight as when they receive visitors they must give a good impression.
Supplying extra hot air to the Houses of Parliament
To name drop even further we also supplied a dry steam cleaner for use in the Houses of Parliament. This followed a similar process with a quotation and demonstration at a secure warehouse. As you might expect the security checks were rigorous including checking our vehicle for explosives and full body searches. As might be imagined, we are prepared to do whatever the customer wants!
There was a wait for the order, not a surprise, and the machine was delivered with a further request for more training. This meant more admin for security clearance to be allowed in to deliver the training, which we did willingly.
There is a lot more to helping customers find the right piece of equipment other than price. It is a question of listening and following their requirements to ensure the machine they buy does the job, even if it means the occasional body search!
