Industrial Steam Cleaner

What is an Industrial Steam Cleaner?

Steam is a very effective medium for cleaning in both domestic and industrial environments. It is efficient in sanitising surfaces as it breaks down the dirt and deposits without using chemicals and it can enter all the nooks and crannies of a surface which might be missed by other cleaning techniques.  Industrial steam cleaners tend to have features which are more suitable for some cleaning tasks than others. Different types of industrial steam cleaners are discussed below, but specific advice should be sought from professional suppliers.

Industrial Steam Cleaner - Pressure Washer

The efficacy of pressure washing is well known but sometimes, for particularly adherent dirt the force of pressurised water is not enough and additional cleaning power is required. A pressure washer like the Edge Tiger with a steam facility can be the answer to problematic residue. Steam is produced by reducing the flow of water through the machine which causes the boiler to raise the temperature of the water to around 140oC to create steam. The steam created has a high water content and, although it does have the power to remove dirt, it does not effectively sanitise the surface.

Industrial Steam Cleaner – Dry Steam Cleaner

A purpose made industrial steam cleaner has advantages over a pressure washer with a steam facility in that it sanitizes the surface as well as removing residue, and it can more easily be used indoors. A dry steam cleaner heats the water to around 180oC which creates a super heated steam with very little water content, in fact it is more or less hot air. This hot air can be played on the surface and it will get into the nooks and crannies to liquefy the unwanted deposits. The resultant deposits then have to be removed and some dry steam cleaners have an integral vacuum to do this. The mechanical power to remove dirt is less than a pressure washer but the dry steam cleaner has a greater degreasing power and removes the need for detergents.
